Sir Knight's of Texas:

This poem was submitted to the monthly publication of Sharon Shrine Temple in Tyler by Barbara Yarbrough, a very short time before the death of her husband and the Potentate of Sharon Temple, Sir Knight Henry Yarbrough. The author is unknown.

I would like each of us to think on what is said in the lines of this poem and consider what a privilege it is to live today and enjoy the things our forefathers fought and died for.

I never made a fortune and it's probably too late now,
But it don't much matter, I'm happy anyhow.
And, as I go along life's journey, I'm reaping better than I've sowed,
I'm drinking from a saucer, cause my cup overflowed.

I ain't got a lot of riches and sometimes the going's tough,
But I got friends and kids that love me, ant that makes me rich enough.
I just thank God for the mercies and the blessings He's bestowed,
I'm drinking from a saucer, cause my cup is overflowed.

Oh, there were times when things went wrong and my faith got a little thin,
But then, all at once, the dark clouds broke and the old sun peaked through again.
So, Lord, help me not to complain about the rough rows I've hoed,
I'm drinking from a saucer, cause my cup overflowed.

And if God gives me strength and courage when my way grows steep and rough,
I'll not ask for other blessings; I've already been blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy to help other bear their load,
And I'll just keep on drinking from a saucer, cause my cup is overflowed.

This is dedicated to two members of Sharon Temple's Divan who have in the past month gobe to be with their maker: the Potentate, Sir Knight Henry Yarbrough, and the High Priest and Prophet, Sir Knight Dwayne "Ozzie" Osborne. They will be missed.

Yours in the faith,
Jim Smith, Grand Commander

Sir Knights, from time to time we hear that a Templar activity has happened; however, there was never a notice received of the activity so that it could be included in the Texas Supplement. Just get a memo to me 60 days before the event; then we can get it published for you.
